Spain Trip: Day 11

Today's trip was not in Spain. Instead, we took a ferry and crossed the Strait of Gibraltar to Tangier, Morocco (pronounced as Tang-herr by the locals). The strait divides Europe and Africa. We embarked from the port of Tarifa. It is from Tarifa where a straight line southward divides the Atlantic Ocean from the Mediterranean Sea. So now, one of our claims to fame is that we were in two continents and sailed two oceans in one day.

Two continents, two oceans in one day.

Spain in our wake.

As we pulled into the Tangier harbor, we passed by a large and impressive-looking yacht. We found out later from our Moroccan tour guide that it belonged to the Saudi king and according to one of the street merchants that "The Saudi king has Filipinos in his crew who were shopping earlier and bought lots of items" from him.

Tess thinks these camels are cute and friendly but I think they're just waiting for the perfect moment to spit at her.

The main part of our tour was in the Tangier Kasba where many artists and writers have resided, including Matisse, Picasso,  and Hemingway.

This archway said to have inspired a Matisse painting.
